Building communities that are resilient, inclusive and environmentally sustainable.
ECODI works alongside communities, local institutions and partners across North-East Nigeria to protect the environment, strengthen livelihoods and build peaceful, climate-resilient communities — led by the people who live in them.
An organization built from community roots.
Communities are not merely beneficiaries of development — they are partners and owners of sustainable solutions.
Eco Smart Community Development Initiative (ECODI) is a Nigerian non-governmental organization committed to advancing sustainable environmental management, community development, climate resilience, inclusive livelihoods, and peaceful and resilient communities.
ECODI works with communities, local institutions, government stakeholders, civil society organizations and other development partners to address interconnected environmental, social and economic challenges — integrating environmental sustainability with agriculture, WASH, livelihoods, social inclusion, peacebuilding, protection, education and community participation.
ECODI emerged from voluntary community support initiatives, including support for persons with disabilities and communities affected by displacement and conflict in North-East Nigeria, before formally registering as a Nigerian civil society organization in 2025.
